After 35 years as a Firefighter/Paramedic Nelson Wirtz ’83 retired as the Fire Chief of the Oak Bluffs Fire Department in Martha’s Vineyard, MA. Congratulations!
Ramiro Cavazos ’24 returned to campus to share how TMI’s Innovation and Design program inspired him to think differently and lead boldly.
Now a Business Analytics major at UTSA and VP of the Business Student Council, Ramiro’s story will be part of a video for our upcoming Entrepreneur & Innovation Award Luncheon—a celebration of creativity, leadership, and design-thinking at TMI.

TMI Homecoming 2025
October 16-17
Homecoming is an exciting time to reminisce on past memories, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones! Come home to celebrate your time at TMI!
We especially want to welcome back our special anniversary classes – Class of 1950, celebrating 75 years; Class of 1975, celebrating 50 years; Class of 2000, celebrating 25 years; and Class of 2015, celebrating 10 years. We look forward to seeing everyone on campus soon!

This year’s Reviewing Officer is Carson Moore ’23, former Battalion Commander of the TMI Corps of Cadets. Carson is a survivor of the devastating Kerrville floods on July 4th and we are honored to welcome him back in this special role.
An Alumni Reception will follow in the Elliott-Stabler Leadership Center. Join us to hear from our new Commandant of Cadets, Chief Casey Reed, as he shares updates on the state of the TMI Corps of Cadets.

TMI Alumni Association Needs YOU!
TMI is proud of our alumni! All graduates of TMI are automatically members of the Alumni Association, which has no dues. TMI is calling on its alumni to reconnect, re-engage, and reinvest in the community that helped shaped them.
The TMI Alumni Association is actively seeking more alumni involvement to strengthen connections across generations and support the continued growth and success of the school. Whether it’s attending alumni events, volunteering, speaking to our current students, or supporting school initiatives, there are so many ways to stay connected. The Alumni Association meets quarterly and Zoom is an option to attend the meetings if you are unable to make it to campus.

TMI’s 2026 Alumni Day and Hall of Fame Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026. Please save the date and join us in celebrating our alumni!
Nominations are open until October 31 for the 2026 TMI Hall of Fame Ceremony which includes induction into the TMI Hall of Fame as well as the Outstanding Young Alumni awards.
Hall of Fame Induction Criteria
Since 2015, the TMI Hall of Fame has celebrated alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the school who have left a lasting mark on our community. Inductees exemplify one or more of TMI’s Core Values: Wisdom, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Reverence.
Along with alumni inductees, we also present the Distinguished Servant Leader Award to former faculty, staff, and friends of TMI whose dedication, mentorship, and service have made a meaningful impact on generations of students.
Hall of Fame Induction Nominee Requirements:
- Graduated from or left TMI at least five years prior to nomination
- Demonstrated excellence in award-related skills and accomplishments, including recognition by athletic conference and/or other external organizations
- Demonstrated integrity, courage and character
- Achievements as a member of the TMI community and beyond
- Former students who did not graduate from TMI are eligible
- Friends of the school whose contributions have had a major impact on programs at TMI may be considered

Outstanding Young Alumni Award Criteria
Established in 2025, this award celebrates young alumni (40 years old or younger) who have made significant professional achievements or meaningful contributions to their community, while embodying TMI’s Core Values.
Outstanding Young Alumni Nominee Requirements:
- Must be a living alumnus/a who attended TMI for at least one full academic year (graduation not required)
- 40 years old or younger
- Demonstrated notable achievements or great promise in their profession or chosen field
- Embody one or more of TMI’s Core Values: Wisdom, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Reverence
- Show innovation, creativity, and early career success
- Maintain a connection to TMI and serve as an example of how to transition into life after graduation
