CLASS NOTES
On April 9, the TMI Corps Color Guard presented the colors at the State of the City address hosted by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce where Mayor Ron Nirenberg addressed over 700 guests at the Marriott River Walk.
TMI Alumna, Mary Sophia Bodden ’16, helped coordinate TMI to participate and took time out of her busy schedule for a photo with the cadets.
John Amini ’09 and his family have moved back to San Antonio and recently welcomed their third child, Leigh Marilyn Amini. Her two older brothers, Jed and Roy, are enamored! Congratulations Amini family and welcome home.

It was great to see everyone at Alumni Day 2024! On Friday, April 12th, TMI welcomed nearly 90 alumni and guests back to campus for an afternoon of tradition, honors and the joy of getting together again.
The festivities started with campus tours and talks on what’s new at TMI from Maj. Claburn (Commandant of Cadets) in O.S. Petty Rifle Range, Justin Kutscherousky (Dean of Innovation) in the Walker Innovation Center, Ray Purifoy (MS Athletic Director) at the Frost Athletic Center, and Todd Davis (Director of Residential Life) on developments in the boarding program.
TMI honored its own with the 2023-2024 Hall of Fame induction ceremony that was emceed by TMI alumni Robert Price ’02.
Outstanding alumni who were inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame, shown below, are (from left to right) Rick Smith ’71, founder of ChapmanSchewe and Smith (merged with Higginbotham in 2015) and TMI Board of Governor, Donald Elliott ’63, retired Navy Pilot and FedEx pilot, A.L. “Les” Ballard ’52, President of Ballard Exploration Company, Dawn Bartlett Hall ’91, retired executive producer and on-air personality for several syndicated sports networks that cover the NBA, NFL, MLB, and Leland Goertz, TMI Teacher and Coach of 36 years.
After the ceremony, alumni and guests gathered to say farewell to Coates Hall and to congratulate inductees and reconnect with old friends. Alumni were treated to a commemorative 130 Anniversary TMI mug containing limestone that had been taken off of Coates Hall.

On Tuesday, April 23 our TMI Alumni Association hosted its third annual Rising Alumni Luncheon honoring the Class of 2024. The purpose of the event was to congratulate and welcome the newest alumni to TMI’s Alumni Association.
During the luncheon, Seniors were seated with alumni and were able to visit and share about their common experiences of being a TMI Panther. A special highlight of the event was the presentation of alumni lapel pins that were given to Seniors to mark their achievement and signify the pride and membership as a Forever Panther.

Alumni Visit Campus
On February 23, TMI welcomed Pedro Martinez ’01 back to campus to tour the Walker Innovation Center. Pedro is currently a Senior Program Project Manager for New Business Ventures & Innovation at USAA. Justin Kutscherousky, Dean of Innovation, led the tour and talked to Pedro about all the exciting things happening in the Innovation and Design program at TMI.
On March 22, Christopher Mammen ’01, Vice President, Workforce Development, visited campus to speak to students about his time at TMI and his responsibilities as a workforce development director for greater: SATX.
On March 28, Clint Muhlenberg ’05 visited with students from the Business and Entrepreneurship class on March 28. Clint was recently honored with the Entrepreneur of the Year award at The Best of Small Business Awards by the Small Business Expo, which celebrates the brightest small to mid-sized business visionaries nationwide.
On April 16, Kit Goldsbury ’61 visited campus to have lunch with this year’s Business and Entrepreneurship business plan winners. The Business and Entrepreneurship course is aimed at teaching the basic principles and tenets of business and entrepreneurship. As part of the curriculum, students build a business idea from the ground up. They are required to create a product/service, a logo, sales forecasts, conduct primary and secondary research, create marketing deliverables, develop a SWOT analysis, and the list goes on. TMI Faculty and Staff then vote on the best plans.
On April 16th, Cole Davila ’15, Assistant District Attorney for Bexar County, visited with some 9th grade advisory students, attended chapel, and had lunch with a group of students.

TMI Student Levi Nisimblat ’26
“Angel Runner”
Levi Nisimblat ’26 participated in his first event for Wings of Texas. Non-profit organization that pairs “Angel runners” with Wings of Texas captains to achieve and accomplish 5k, 10k, and even marathons. An amazing team creating accomplishments for all.
TMI Golf Teams – Success at District Tournament
On April 15, the men’s and women’s team competed at the 5A-4 District Championships. Our women were victorious and were crowned District Champions. Four of the team also qualified as medalists including Louisa Atkerson and Gracie Martinez. Trinity Wilkinson placed third, and Julia Hansen placed 1st, making her District Champion.
The men’s team were only 17 strokes off the winning position and finished in third place. Ryan Erdos and Ryan Jourdan also qualified as medalists.
10 of our golfers now move on to compete in the Regional Championship at Magnolia Creek on April 30th. Go Panthers!
